UNESCO Biosphere and Gastronomy in Entlebuch - 3-day Guided Snowshoeing
Come and discover the Entlebuch Biosphere, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch offers mystical landscapes: wild moors alternate with idyllic alpine pastures, above which the peaks of the Schrattenfluh and the Rothorn tower majestically.
We will stay with Diane & Nick at the Kreuz Inn in Marbach and travel short distances with the postal bus.
This trip is led by Aurelie Bourquin, mountain leader.
What's the plan?
Day 1: Friday
Meet at the Kambly Factory in Trübschachen from 10:15. There we will have a coffee and visit the delicacies factory before starting our hike to Escholzmatt. This is a hike of about 12 km and 500m of altitude difference that we will do on foot. From Escholzmatt we will take the post bus to the Kreuz Inn in Marbach (10 minutes).
We will be staying in double or triple rooms.
If there is a lot of snow, there will be a slight variation, but I will inform you in advance.
Day 2: Saturday
We will take the cabins to Marbachegg and undertake a magnificent tour in the snow (9km and 600m of altitude difference), before going to eat at the Schottenhof Lochsitli farm . Renate will let us taste the delicacies of the farm. Then we will return quietly to our Kreuz inn in Marbach where we can drink a little tea, eat a delicious slice of cake before dinner.
Day 3: Sunday
After our breakfast, we will go to Kemmeribodenbad on foot or by snowshoes (12 km and 600 m of altitude difference), where we will taste the famous "Meringues à la crème" at the magnificent Kemmeribodenbad hotel .
After this hearty snack, we will take the post bus again to collect our luggage from the Kreuz Inn in Marbach before returning home.
If you only want to come for two days, let us know. It is also possible to arrive Friday evening or Saturday morning. The rate will be changed.
We will have the possibility to drop off luggage on hiking days.
Requirements
To join this event, you must be a fit hiker and have sure-footedness. This will require around 6hrs of walking per day.
Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).

If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you take the following:
- Friday: Zurich HB 08:32 - 10:12 Trübschachen (via Bern)
- Sunday: Trübschachen 16:14 - 17:51 Zurich HB (via Luzern) - depending on the time the event finishes
