Lead Climbing Course for Beginners
Learn how to sport climb on real rock and the skills needed to keep you safe. Instruction covers lead climbing and belaying techniques, rope management, clipping quickdraws, anchor setting and clearing, equipment handling, and effective communication. This course will build the confidence and create a great foundation as a lead climber.
This climbing course is led by Ivan Abajo, certified climbing instructor.
What’s the plan?
Meeting point will be at Bellinzona station at 09:33 and Ivan will take you to the crag by car. After hiking to the crag, you will have the opportunity to not only refresh your existing climbing skills, but also learn the fundamentals of lead climbing, belaying, and the process of setting and clearing anchors in a safe environment.
Requirements
Participation in Course 1/3 - Top Rope Climbing or previous experience with indoor or outdoor top rope climbing.
Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
How to get there
If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you take the following:
- Sunday: Zurich HB 07:05 - 09:33 Bellinzona
- Sunday: Bellinzona 17:03 - 18:45 Zurich HB - depending on what time the event finishes
If you are traveling by car, details on where to park will be shared days before the event start.
