Guided Snowshoeing Weekend (Schwarzsee)
Join us in this snowshoeing trip and discover the Fribourg Pre-Alps. Two days traversing the romantic region of Schwarzsee.
This trip is led by Julien Temple, International Mountain Leader.
What's the plan?
Saturday
We meet at La Roche FR, La Berra at 09:15. Then take a cable car ride all the way up to La Berra and snowshoeing along the mountain ridge to La Patta and the Schwyberg. Weather permitting, we’ll get to enjoy a 360° view over the Bernese, Vaud and Fribourg Alps, as well as the Jura massif in the background.
We descent to Schwarzsee in the afternoon, where we will enjoy the evening at Hotel Bad. Dinner and night at the hotel.
Sunday
After a nice breakfast, we will start our long and beautiful hike to Zollhaus. After following a beautiful path in the forest, we will climb towards the Ättenberg, the highest point of the hike at 1600m, where we will enjoy again a beautiful view. We will then start de descent to Zolhaus where we will catch the bus.
Technical information
10 km per day and about 600 to 700m elevation.
Requirements
To join this event, you must be a fit hiker. No previous snowshoeing experience needed.
Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
How to get there
If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you take the following:
- Zurich HB 06:32 - 09:17 La Roche FR, La Berra (via Fribourg, La Roche FR, La Stoutz)
- Zollhaus 16:11 - 18:28 Zurich HB (via Fribourg) - depending on the time the event finishes

You will receive an email with a form to fill in a few days before the event, where you can inform us about which items you’d like to rent. These can be paid by cash or Twint on the event day.
