Guided Snowshoeing Weekend on Mont d'Or with Night in a Yurt
Join us in this unusual weekend in the beautiful snowy landscapes of the Jura between Switzerland and France. A unique experience with a night in a yurt and local cuisine.
What's the plan?
Day 1:
Meet your guide at Vallorbe train station at 10:00 and set off for a full day's snowshoeing in the hills above Vallorbe all the way to La Petite Echelle where we will spend the night in a yurt and dine on local specialities in a traditional auberge.
Day 2:
After a hearty breakfast, we will snowshoe all the way to the Mont d'Or to enjoy a stunning view across the Leman basin towards the Alps. Descend to Vallorbe.
Technical information
This hike is of moderate difficulty with 500m vertical climb per day and 5 hours hiking. (WT2 - Distance 12km per day - Elevation gain 500m per day*)*
Requirements
To join this event, no prior experience in snowshoeing required.
Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
How to get there
If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you take the following:
- Zurich HB 07:04 - 09:50 Vallorbe (via Yverdon-les-Bains)
- Vallorbe 15:10 - 17:56 Zurich HB (via Yverdon-les-Bains) - depending on the time the event finishes

You will receive an email with a form to fill in a few days before the event, where you can inform us about which items you’d like to rent. These can be paid by cash or Twint on the event day.
